Elias said to me this morning in a very business-like tone: "Daddy, I love you, but you keep going away."
I tried to get more out of him on this, but the conversation kept meandering over to the subject of playing on the computer or Wii.
Both cute and disturbing.

some cost/benefit analysis of this point would be interesting. In a sense, it's a teachable moment for the boy wherein something of the hard work of life begins to enter his take on the world. In another sense, it's one of those awkward moments that all us dads dread in which we wonder whether we've perhaps missed something and are committing our time to the wrong things.
Perhaps I'll just sit back feeling glad my boy's not said anything quite so awkwardly insightful yet?!
